The Learning Pit

It’s okay to not know the answer!

We have used James Nottingham’s model of The Learning Pit to encourage the children to embrace challenge.   Not knowing the answer to a problem is an opportunity for learning.

When faced with a problem or task and you don’t’ know the answer, it can be easy to shy away. 

Once in The Pit, the learning begins. This is where the children implement strategies and problem solving skills that we learn to develop in child hood and develop in adulthood to help us become lifelong learners.

The key skills which we encourage are collaboration; working together to solve problems; to question and challenge and try new strategies.

These learning attributes are the key to life long learning.
